The difference is the rinse window, not the result. An original solution rinses at 8 to 12 hours. A rapid solution rinses anywhere from 1 to 8 hours, and how long you leave it is how you choose your depth. Both keep developing after the first rinse, and both can land on the same final color.
So the question is not “which one looks better.” It is “which one fits my day.”
How each one works
Both are built on DHA, the ingredient that tints the top layer of your skin. The only difference is how quickly it binds.
Original binds steadily. It wants 8 to 12 hours before water touches it, which in practice means an afternoon or evening appointment, sleep in it, rinse in the morning. It is the simplest version because there is no decision to make: you rinse when you wake up.
Rapid uses a faster-acting formula. Rinse at one hour for a light, natural glow. Rinse at eight for the deepest result. Anywhere in between is anywhere in between. The rinse time is the depth control, which is why Seana asks how dark you want to go before she chooses the bottle.
Either way, the first rinse takes off the bronzer and the DHA keeps developing for the rest of that day. Judge the color the next morning, not the moment you towel off. Here is the full rinse guide.
When original is the right call
- You can sleep in it. Evening appointment, rinse in the morning. Done.
- You want it simple. One rinse time, no judgment call.
- You have a full day tomorrow. Rinsing at breakfast means you are dressed and dry for whatever comes next.
When rapid is the right call
- You need to rinse tonight. A dinner, a flight, a bed you do not want to sleep in bronzer in. Rapid lets you shower before any of it.
- You want a lighter result. Rinse early on purpose. This is the honest answer for someone who says “I just want a little color.”
- You want to control the depth yourself. Some clients like choosing the moment.
- The day-of is the only option. A rapid solution with an early rinse is the safest way to tan on the day of an event, though two days before is still the rule when you have the choice.
The mistake to avoid
Rinsing an original solution on a rapid timeline. It is the single most common way a good tan gets cut short. The DHA that had not bound yet goes down the drain, and there is no fixing it afterwards. Your rinse time is written down before you leave the appointment for exactly this reason. If you lose the note, text 615-428-0746 and ask.
How Seana decides
She does not ask you to pick. At the appointment she asks three things: what you are getting ready for and when, how deep you want to go, and how your skin tends to take color. The answer to the first one usually decides the solution on its own, and the other two set the depth.
It is the same conversation that decides your undertone match, which is the part that actually determines whether the tan reads as skin or as a tan. The solution type is logistics. The match is the Method.
Price
The same. Rapid and original are two solutions, not two services. The Sunless Method Experience is $55 in the studio or $85 mobile whichever you have, and the Student Glow is $45 or $75. Full pricing here.
